wednesday with dap! our 3rd meetup!

its wednesday with dap again! today we planned to go check out a Mediterranean restaurant at haji lane. also i was looking for my fuzhou fishball but can't find. we walked on and checked out some interesting shops. then we walked pass a shop and we found it luring us in. the decor was simple but classy. its sells chocolates! gosh!!! very classy cos they dun stack the chocolates! its just 5-6 pieces each displayed neatly!

the boss was very nice, he gave us some chocolate to try and wooo its really rich and good! definitely coming back for more! cos we would be out for the rest of the day, we didnt get any chocolates. instead we opt to try the japanese jellos! love the packagings! classy!!! dap chose passion orange while i got pear flavoured jello! its very refreshing! if its chilled further its a great hit! the jellos were very fruity and mine naturally peary sweet! dap's choice was very refreshing with the orange flavour jello with a tinge of passionfruit sour. nice and neat!

we just sat down to enjoy while the boss tells us about the chocolates from japan! when we were done with the jellos, he was kind enough to show us his other import. wrapped chocolate pieces in boxes from hokkaido! oso he had milktea biscuits from hokkaido too. he was so nice to give us each a milktea biscuit to try... its so good! flavoured milktea filling and the biscuits very crunchy and buttery! to die for! we were soooo lucky to have spotted this shop!

we walked down the lane and we were getting hungry and decided to settle down for javanese nasipadang for lunch. the big tofu which i dun know its name, its so good! crispy on the outside and soft inside!!! the chicken and lotong veg was alrite cos i prefer the one at rivervalley road.

after the full meal, we had to think where next our next destination would be, cos we can't eat anymore we had to skip the Mediterranean cafe. dap suggested bringing me to the national museum. she was there last weekend for the nite performance and she knew i would want to see... DAVID! once you step into the museum, there stood david all wrapped up in flowery fabric... it does reminds me of the david the one i saw in florence but we were not allowed to take pictures of the sculpture. but for this art piece, we can. i felt that this was much bigger and taller than the actual mable sculpture by Michelangelo. (and i was right! - info below) i still like the pure looking david. the real one is very heroic craved out of marble with veins and muscles details. but still it was nice to see david again.

information on David:
Michelangelo's David, sculpted from 1501 to 1504, is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture and one of Michelangelo's two greatest works of sculpture. It is the statue of the young Israelite king David alone that almost certainly is one of the most recognizable stone sculpture in the history of art. It has become regarded as a symbol both of strength and youthful human beauty. The sculpture stands 5.17 metre (17 ft) tall.

information on David in Singapore National Museum:
"Surrounding David" borrows the visual and conceptual structure from the original work. A flowery layer of textile covers the entire fiberglass statue, the way Spiderman dons his spandex suit. The textile is reminiscent of traditional handmade brocade, commonly used for the kebaya, a customary women’s blouse. The floral motifs on the fabric, easily identifiable with Southeast Asian art, juxtaposes against David’s conventionally masculine form. In this novel garb, Titarubi uses David to explicitly express attributes of femininity. Note that the artist’s choice of colour – pink. Displacing conventional imageries of the man, all poised for aggression, this slightly feminine representation may well be a take on the quintessential modern man.Greeting guests as they walk through the main entrance of the building, the 8.5-metre tall

after looking at david, we went about in the museum, haven been here since its newly renovated. the glass roof reminds me of the lourve. i love spiral stairways very nostagic feel.
the new museum looks good. many nice place to take pictures. love the shot that dap took of me looking at david. i wandered off to a corner to look up at david. looking at him reminds me the moment i was in florence looking at david for the first time...as i walk down the rows of artworks, my eyes were just on him. as i approach him, its was majestic. walked around him to see the detailed veins and muscle... it was incredible. then i sat at one corner on a bench next to a lady who asked me isn't it awesome... i couldn't speak at first ... i just nodded my head. i was amazed and taken in by his beauty. gx was nice to have left me sitting there to just admire the artwork.

we then decided to go for tea at fortcanning. then we walked pass a wall of sheeps!!! gosh soooo cute! we started taking pics of it!!! love the sheeps, all kinds of sheep! love such walls! the illustrations are very inspiring to me! we were having fun!

we have reached half way thru and think they are setting up the stage for ballets under the stars, i have never attended it before. the only time i was at fort canning, sitting down having picnic was many years ago. watched the movie cats and dogs on grass. many brought their pets along!

hate it when the information on the internet never revised... but lucky we can still walk to Legends for tea. dap had a carrot cake while i opt for a fruit tart. i was feeling very hot from the walk had to have ice lemon tea. we chatted about everything. relaxing afternoon. i like it that the place was quiet. the carrot cake was a little dry thou. we sat for a very long time.
we had to walked downhill and our next destination was liang court. i wanted to meidiya supermarket. we walked all the way and i was thankful that for the whole day, it was pretty cooling cos of the heavy downpour in the morning. the only time i felt hot was when we travelled up the hills on fort canning. we arrived and dap introduce a ramen place for dinner. dap ordered a bowl of tonkatsu ramen while i had black pork ramen. it was good, very tasty!

we end up walking thru clake quay and boat quey to raffles place to take train home. we stopped at burger king to take pics of the mini polariods we took thru the day. it was fun going out with dap. going to collect the fishlens images later!
it really take skills to take poloroids! must really focus!
it was fun! wonder when are we going to do it again! cos my school is starting next week and dap's hours are almost fully claimed. hopefully we can do this again!
my buys from today's long walks! from the museum, i had to have these pencils... love the flowery motifs on it. got the stamp mousepad as a gift for my uncle. been wanting to get him something but it is difficult cos he can afford everything... he used to collect stamps when he was young. he passed his stamp book to me. tot this is something that he mit like... nostagic? i just hope he like it... well at least its useful...

from meidiya i got my self beer pretzels and black sesame mashmellows. tried the mashmellows, i like the centre black sesame filling but not the texture of the mashmellows, but it is not too bad. as for the light stick, its a gift from dap... she bought along the street in clake quey... 3 for $10. she and her cousin will be attending eason's concert this sat... i won't be going... but she gave me one of the litestick...
lucky me! fil bought durians again!!! ROUND V!!!
