french breakfast, chocolate making class and italian lunch

on sunday 28th, i arranged with Dap to meet early to have breakfast at Laurent Bernard Chocolatier. we sat in the backyard of the restaurant cos its cooler. there was a couple of tables taken up, they are the only ones opening up so early. the rest of the restuarant here open at lunch time.


while i had mango juice in a bottle, dap had oj with her hearty breakfast that has toasts, served with scambled eggs, very nice sausage and salad. i opted for french crepes. thin crepes that was served with whipped cream, chocolate and sugared strawberries.

we did our little catch up while waiting for the breakfast that took some time to come. the reason could be they are all freshly made. but the service crew here is not very efficient. tables not cleared, i had to help myself to the menu and walked to the counter to order. its the ambience that save the day.

Chocolate Making Class

then we head for class. its dap's first cooking class. Chocolate making class! we were making 3 types of chocolate. we started with Nama Choco which is like Royce chocolates. then we proceed to make basic truffles. then lastly we worked on the bonbons.

for bonbons, we had 3 different coatings. icing sugar, cocoa powder and almond nuts coated. for this bonbons, its made of cake crumbs, orange peel, and chocolate. for this we used cointreau.

as for nama choco, we used rum and for truffles we used cherry brandy. the black box provided by the chef was from Japan. think the gold boxes are not from j thou. we were given plastic containers for the bonbons and i transferred them into my own pretty box. i brought my own boxes and i was glad cos i like to pack my creations nicely!

after class, we head to the italian resturant for lunch. think this little breads made dap happy cos it reminded her of the bread she loved when she was in spain for a whole month! she loves to dip the homemade bread into olive oil & balsamic vinaigrette.
for appetisers... we ordered pan-fried snails in a rich garlicky tomato stew! i was the one who wanted to try and dap was game for it. it was not bad, tasted like topshell? this is my 3rd time having snails. i still like the ones i had with gx in Lyon, France. dap did her own creative presentation for 1st snails dish.

Our 2 mains we ordered to share was very nice. Ravioli with spinach filing and Pomodora e Fungi pizza. mushrooms with parma ham. we ordered italian dessert wine to go with our meal. i enjojyed the meal alot! i was also inspired to paint. there were many paintings on the wall. i like the ambience here.

this is the side of the restaurant. is pretty nice to sit here to have tea but that afternoon was so hot that we chose to have our meal indoors. I will be back to try some other dishes and desserts! the food is really nice and i like the place!


at the very end next to the Laurents, was a studio for arts. i love the orange shuttle windows here. i am very glad that i attended class with dap and had a fabulous italian luncheon!

heros and princess bdae party

Saturday 27th. A big day and i have been very busy helping 3rd aunt to prep goody bags for twins. also of cos looking for 3 presents and arranging a surprise for aunt's 40th bdae. here are the princesses and super hero, red ranger, having dinner.

check out the decor and balloons that filled the house! countless numbers of balloons in the ceiling! its really a party room! i loved it!

i helped aunt to get just one princess decor. when i saw it i wanted to get badly! and i am glad i did! its very pretty. i was of cos the first to take a picture with the princess backdrop.

this became a photoshoot spot for all the princesses! it was so nice and the pictures turned out great! for the first time, gx and i wore our stitch tees to the party. yes, stitch is a super hero! so we took a pic with the superheroes posters.

when sis arrived, i went to change into my red dress to join the princess team. sis, ann and i teamed up to wear dresses to join the gals!

of cos L wasn't left out and his surprise came later in the nite. his 1st surprise was by my uncles! they joined him as superheroes!

then part 2 of L's team was the bad guys! gx was the bad cowboy! the rest of my cousins came as the mummy, ninja and bad army commander. the boys did a little "show" on the stairways before their big entrance down the stairs. they took turn to appear to shoot at the crowd. L was so excited and he got up to kick all the baddies! he was very excited! the boys made his day!

among the ladies, my aunt was the best dressed as the fairy! she in white with wings, halos and wands! then dinner was served! the buffet was alright, not fantastic thou.

then it was cake cutting ceremony! started with L. then followed by the twins. the cakes was according to their characters they dresses as!

i loved the snow white and seven drawfs cake! cos its so hard to get the 7 drawfs! pretty!

then its surprise time! aunt k didnt know that her sons ordered a cake to celebrate her bdae which was the next day on Sunday. also she was given a bouquet of white roses and 2 tones pink gerberas.

then my aunt o who tried to surprise us with her cake (cos she told me to keep it as a secret that she's celebrating her bdae), was surprised by us when we presented her a big bdae card and a 40 roses arrangement! she has been nice to arrange alot of familt activities and most of all taking good care of my grandpa... so i tot it would be nice to take this opportunity to thank her.


then my uncle m surprised his wife with a huge, GIGANTIC bouquet! while i played on his organ, he sang a love song to her. she must be very touch! i couldn't see whats gog on as i was far away from the presentation, playing the organ... must have been very romantic!
