mum's surprise potluck party

for mum' bdae this year i decided to spare her the agony of me dirtying her kitchen. i told her to leave the party food to me. i organise a potluck party for her and i am thankful that all my uncles and aunts are very supportive. with their help, the party got on well.

as mum never hear anything from me about the food for the party, she called to check with me on the early sat morning, what she need to prepare. she was worried. i didn't turned up at kcb till 6+pm! she just saw me with a few bags and tot the prawn mee, rojak and satay was it.

then when uncle j & ja came with food, she realised that it was potluck party! uncle K tot mum still didnt know pretended and ask whats for dinner. aunt k even called mum early morning to ask whats for dinner, ask if we need help to whip up dishes and made my mum scared cos it felt like i didn't make any arrangments.

we had alot of food! all from famous stall or home-cooked. We had chilli crabs, roast beef, roast pork, coleslaw with nuts and raisins and shrimp-paste chicken wings. With the twins help, i made apple crumble. Aunt O provided the hagen-daz ice-cream to go with my dessert.

first try on apple crumble - verdict alittle too sweet!

we had alot of food! the dinner was extremely long. after the main course and apple dessert, it was Uncle K's treat! Durians!!! he bought so many! it was so good! i was so filled! everyone couldn't move after eating the fantastic king of fruits!

then after another 20mins rest, it was time to sing mum the bdae song. everyone loved the cake when they saw it. Bro paid for the cake i chose as a present for mum. for our family parties, a 1kg cake is not enough to serve thus we ordered this 2.5kg ice-cream cake.
Thanks to Yvonne, i got to know where to get this cake. gx and i decided to get mil the same cake for her bdae this year. its really pretty but the colour are pretty dull for bdae so i bot strawberries to decorate aound the cake. of cos all the ladies and gals love the cake!

also the dresscode for that nite was Polo Tees. Cos my mum is always in polo tees on weekends. everyone was in polos and thank goodness it rained very heavily cos its so much cooler, if not it will be so hot to wear polo in the house! its also the first time we have a Polo tee party! when mum found out, she just kept smiling!
